CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Each piece you purchase is going to be unique with different colors and markings that have been embedded into the oak from its previous life as a barrel.  Everything has been sanded several times over to get rid of the rough areas and splinters, and then goes through a hand rubbed finishing process.

We use Watco teak oil to finish the majority of our products as we have found this gives the best look and protection, without sacrificing any of the natural color and character of the staves.  When it leaves our shop it has several coats of oil that have been buffed into the wood to create a nice protective layer.

Over time, especially for high use items and outdoor furniture, your piece may start to look dull or faded…not to worry! Simply rub a coat of teak oil on the wood, let it soak in for a few minutes, then rub off the excess. Your stuff will look as good as new!

In order to get the most beauty and preservation out of any outdoor furniture it is imperative that you treat the wood with teak oil twice a year or any time it starts to look dry or faded. The Arizona weather can be punishing, but with the proper care your purchase should last a lifetime.

We recommend keeping your patio furniture covered to get the most life out of it, but it can get wet and handle outdoor moisture. Again, just make sure to re-coat it with teak oil and it will be fine.

For any food safe item…pizza cutters, ice cream scoops, serving trays, etc…the finishing process is slightly different.  We use a beeswax/mineral oil combination, similar to Howard Butcher Block Conditioner.  Several coats are hand rubbed into the wood giving it a food safe protective layer.

The care on these items will be similar to that of a wood cutting board.  Any time it starts to look dry, dull, or faded, simply rub the wax/oil combo into the wood, let it penetrate for a few minutes, then buff it out…good as new!

Both Watco Teak Oil and Howard Butcher Block Conditioner can be purchased at any home improvement store.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions and thank you for purchasing one of our fine handcrafted items!
